I use Breville 800GRXL grill constantly. It's very nice. The design and appeal of the grill are 2nd to none. Clean up is a snap. Just a couple of paper towels and clean the grease tray. You can use it as a press grill, where you cook stuff from both the top and bottom, or you can open it flat and grill on each side. The flat side can be adjusted for angle, while the ribbed side is always flat. For making breakfast or cooking a bunch of steaks, this thing is hard to beat and does a great job. When cooking breakfast, I start my bacon on the rib side, then grill bread or make pancakes on the flat side.. then move the bacon over to the flat side once it gets going. It does a great job on pancakes and produces a very nice even finish. Great for eggs as well, since the non-stick is very good. When I use it, I usually always just leave the temp on full. It heats up quickly (about 3 minutes or so) and is ready to go. Great for grilled cheese or for making sandwiches that you press/grill with the top closed (although only one side gets grill marks unless you flip it. The top is adjustable so it doesn't crush the food if you don't want it to; this is helpful if you want to warm from the top while cooking the bottom, since you can stand the top part of the grill off the food by 1/2 an inch or so.
Also does a good job with hamburgers. You can cook 4 to 6 on the grill side no problem, while toasting the buns on the flat side. If you want to drain the oil, just adjust the flat side so it's at an angle and grease will run down into the tray. The tray is also setup such that it catches grease and oil from the ribbed side as well.
The cooking surfaces do not remove, but clean up just requires a couple of paper towels. Overall, the unit is very well built and puts other grills to shame. It's also quite a bit larger than the average GF type grill you see in the store, so you have probably about twice the room to work.
There is a little timer, but I never use it. Just turn the unit on, dial the heat to the max setting and away you go! The Breville 800GRXL is a "manly" grill that will be enjoyed by all. However, know that it is large in size and that that is both an advantage and a disadvantage. For a small person, man or woman it might be a handful to lift and store. That being said, it is a wonderful kitchen appliance. It both looks and works great. The tiltable bottom plate is a very nice feature as is the adjustable top plates ability to lock at verious hights so as not to squash more delicate items.
Breville 800GRXL takes a few minutes to warm up and to cool down, but that is not surpizing given the size of the grill. The timer works well but is mechanical and sounds like an old fashion kitchen timer and it does not stop or start the cooking process. This grill iteself gets hot enough to sear meat nicely and yet folds out flat to grill and griddle at the same time.
